Hi guys, welcome to 702 Cheeseman, where girly mutes business and nothing is sugar coated. We're Samantha. And I'm Sabrina, sisters and owners of a local market here in Vegas, as known as 702 Market. This podcast is where we talk about running a market, small business, life, vendor drama, and everything we learn the hard way while keeping it cute. So we hope to do this podcast about once a week. Manifesting it well, it will come out once a week. My sister with her manifesting and knowing us will maybe it'll be twice a week. It will be once a week. Let's just put it down. And we will give you it. We'll give you the episode. But um, so we started this podcast. But let's clear up why we started this. I mean, it was Samantha's idea. Yeah, it was my idea. To start this. I literally went and ordered the podcast equipment because I want to. He's determined, guys. So I was determined. So we wanted to do this podcast because we don't get to meet a lot of our vendors. And it sucks to say that. But either it's because you guys are extremely busy with people at your booths. Which we understand. We're not mad about it, but we would love to get to know you guys on a deeper level, and we want you guys to get to know us on a deeper level. So the best thing to do is just talk to you guys. Talk to you guys through your phone. I mean, this is the quickest, easiest way. And hopefully at the next event that we see you at, you guys know us. You guys know us a little better. I mean, you guys feel like a little connection or something. Hopefully, that's what we're aiming for. But this is why we started the podcast. And a lot of people do not know that it's two sisters that own 702 Market. And we're family. I mean, I'm 22, Samantha is. 27. So we're pretty young entrepreneurs, I guess you can say. Yes. And it's family-owned. So we also have our parents that help us well with pretty much the market too. Yeah. It's not only me and my sister. Yes, and even my niece is involved. Yes. I mean, she's mental support, and that's I need mental support, you need that. Yeah. Do you need that? And running a business, you need that. But it's pretty much all of us, all hands on deck. And yeah, and a lot of people question till this day, two years later, like who runs it? Who runs it? And I who's the owner of it. I think most people have like an idea. It's two, it's probably like some little some little girl. So I mean no, it's probably a girl that's hosting the market because our games, our wording, we would hope you think it would be a girl, especially with our flyers. I mean, it could be a guy too. But it is two females, family-owned, also. Um that's a little background on us. But yeah, a lot of people ask us is where did 702 markets start? And why did it start? How did it start? When did you start? So basically, medium story, not long, not short, but uh we started two years ago, two years for us. Yes, and before that we started as small business ourselves too. Yeah, and we did um treats. So it was like the bite dessert, little desserts, uh chudo cheesecake, dress leches, strawberries, chocolate. Yes. And um during that time we were doing like uh pop-ups, like the backyard pop-ups, the ranchos, anything pretty much cheap, like fifty to sixty dollars. Yeah, we didn't want to step into the deeper side because it was more money and we were it was pretty scary, yeah, pretty intimidating, like, oh we don't want to sell on the strip, we don't want to sell in these like big festivals or markets because we weren't there yet. Yeah, so in our heads, we weren't there yet. We were doing the small ones, the fifty to sixty dollars, the backyard ones, and at that time we didn't see nothing wrong with it. It was like it was exciting as our first like markets, it was pretty exciting because we had our tent, we had our setup, we would plan it ahead, we would get our sweets and stuff um baked the same day. We would wake up early baking everything, and then getting into a market, we soon realized we were being scammed. If we think about it, honest truth being scammed. Now that we're owners of a market, a legit market, we look back and we're like, damn, we were joining illegal markets. And we honestly, a lot of small businesses, new businesses don't know how much goes into owning a market, hosting a market. We're jumping to a jumping to a head. Yes, but when we're doing the small business, we were doing these events. You pay through whatever payment method they ask, but then you don't really question where does that money go? Yeah. So we basically, a little bit going forward, we had that experience as a vendor and we were approached by somebody. We're not gonna name names, yes, but we were approached and offered an opportunity to do a one-time event. Basically, that person said, You guys know the vendor background, get me vendors together. I have a property which is Arizona Charlie's, our first location, and let's see how it goes. We were like, Okay, we've been in the market, you know, we've been to markets. It should be easy, you know. Yeah, we have the location, let's find the vendors, and that's that. Once we stepped into it, it was a pain in the ass. Well, first setup was making an Instagram account, going to the bank account, bane going to the bank. Yeah, going to the bank, opening an account, and then getting an LS into city, and that's like a whole different territory when you touch city permits. That's like so basically when we started, we didn't know we thought just grab the vendors, have the location, throw an event, but no, it's it's a basically goes into it that deal with the city think about and we didn't think about either, and it's fine, but we want to educate you guys too, so you know what markets to choose. So basically, now that we are a legit market, we do have to pay the permits, we do have to pay city, we have to pay business licensing, we have to pay taxes, we have to pay it's like a long list, which is another episode also. But it's a long list of things that go into running a market. Not even that, it's the social media and the advertisement. When we look back, we're like, damn, where did this $50, $60 go to? And that's something that the next market you join, think about it. If I'm paying a if I I'm paying money, ask yourself, are they promoting? Are they doing paid ads? I mean, are they is it city permits? Is it where's your money actually going? Because most of it, the money goes in their pocket. If you think about it, they're pocketing the money and it's not fair to you guys. So pretty much when we went into this market, we learned the insight and we were like, oh wow, like I literally learned from the very beginning how to deal with city. That's scary. Like, low-key, I learned city permits. I'm pretty much the brainy person. I figure out how to do the permits, I've done entitlements, I've dealt with mayors in Las Vegas. We went to like legit like what are they meetings? Yeah, like what was that thing that we had to do with the city? It was a single singing hall, yeah. And we literally met the mayor. We were in a bunch of uh in a wait, I can't say it. We were in front of a bunch of important people, so that just shows like Yeah, where our business has gone within two years. Yes. I mean, it's crazy to even say that we've gotten this far after just starting one day and then now you get this far. But it took a lot of sacrifices, it took a lot of tears and a lot of meetings that we would have within each other, the four of us. Took a lot of sweat when it was during summer. When we say sweat and tears, like we're not really like we meet like actual sweat and sweat and tears. Yes. There's like stories to tell you guys that we've experienced some horrible moments that we've experienced too. But that's pretty much like the background story of how I hope we gave a background story of how 702 markets started. Yeah, we basically started from the bottom and we've had to work our butts off. We could say that we've worked hard to get where we are now. Yeah, we can. And we still work hard to this day. We're not gonna give up and be lazy. Nope. We're gonna continue working hard to get you guys the best market in Vegas. Yes. So two years later, you can really sit here and think about all the chaos that we've had in the past. We still have chaos, like not gonna lie. It's always chaotic. It is always chaotic. You guys might look at us and be like, damn, they're really organize. It is calm, chaotic. Yes, like it's like subtle. Yeah, it's like not as before we guys would used to see us running around sweating. I think you guys still sometimes see that happening with us. Sometimes we try, we try not to, but I think that you guys can be like, oh wow, they're very organized, they have everything situated. No, you thought wrong. We're we gotta be more organized. We are like two years later, we I think we have it down, but like if you really look back, we've had a lot of chaotic moments, and I think one of those moments is the first year. Everything felt so out of our control, it was just out of control, period. I don't think I think what didn't help was that we didn't have the help that we have today. Thank you know, huge thanks to our crew members. So let's like set the the setting. How do storytellers say it? And let's set the setting. It's just the four of us guys. My mom, my dad, me and Samantha. We're our little one and our little one. We're out there in a big parking lot handling vendors, showing them their location, setting up trash cans, tables, food trucks we're handling too. Like handling, meaning like we would go and show them where they would park and actually like guide them to their parking lot. So we're like um parking guiders too. Yeah, we're basically like parking guide, guide, whatever it's called. But we're also that as well at the very beginning, and I think that was like really bad. People were like driving in. We were just taking too much on our plates, on our stuff. Yeah, we were literally were, and there were times, events that we're like handling vendors, and somebody drives in and we're like, Where did you just come from? These vendors would have their tents set up and we would have rows, and of course, a roundup car wants to get out, and it's an old grouchy man that needs to get out, and he's get yelling at us, I need to get out, I need to move, or like please, there's people setting up. Yeah, yeah. I think that's where like everything felt so out of control for us, is we couldn't really handle it. We couldn't figure out a freaking walkie-talkie system because we didn't have the funds yet to get even brand new walkie-talkies. So we had to figure out like DIY things for everything. We didn't have the help that we needed, so it was just the four of us handling everything. We didn't have like figuring, we didn't figure we didn't have the layout down like we do now. We have a system. Yeah, I feel like now we have a system, everyone has a job. Before it was like everyone was everywhere, all hands on deck. We were like doing each other's jobs, yeah. Two people were doing one job when it could have just been one person, and we like it was really chaotic, honestly, and that's like something that we look back at and we're like, how did we make it this far? It's actually like funny, yeah. Like, how did we really make it this far by doing all that? A lot of tears. It was a lot of tears, a lot of stress, a lot of stress too. A lot of everything running a market. But I think when it comes to that, and you're like running a market also makes people fight a lot. Oh my god. Don't get started. We fight started. Me and my sister. We all fight. Yeah, we do. We do have disagreements, but I think me and Sabrina can get into it the most about the stupidest things. Oh my god. There is actually one time I'm taking a shower. It was the first ever event that first or second? I think it was like the third. Okay, third event. I'm taking a shower. Samantha gets a phone call and she takes it. And usually we would take all phone calls together at the time because we were both handling the same thing for some reason. And no, we needed to be a part of everything together. Yes. And we've learned to this day that we don't need to have that. We can all have jobs and tasks and handle things by our own. Like if you want to handle city, I don't care about the phone calls. Yeah. Just let me know at the end if it's good or bad. If you want to handle the health department, you handle health department. Going back to the story, she got a phone call, took it, and I got upset, told her why didn't you wait? She got mad at me and wanted to throw punches at me. Go into descriptions about that. It went from one to a hundred rotals. I think a stress, like our stress levels were so high that we were just taking out on each other, and now we've learned to actually communicate, which we'll get into like the next subject. But we fixed that. We fixed it. No more throwing hands. We don't throw hands no more. We don't. Uh there's moments I even vendors want to fight with us, they want to start problems with us, but it's because the heat or because they're stressed out setting up, and that's another. Sorry, guys. That was our alarm system. Um that's another subject to get into also. Alarm systems? No. Oh. Oh. No. The people defenders. We start advertising our system. I know. But going back into it, we've learned a lot. We've had a lot of chaotic moments till this day. We're just a little bit more calm and cutesy about it.

Yeah, we try. We try to be cutesy. There's times that we're not cutesy, but there's times that you see our makeup running. You see our shirts black when they're supposed to be white. There's times that our tip of vendors' jeans are ripping in half. Little tip for vendors. If you guys are a vendor, please do not wear white. I think that was just you somehow. Yeah, that was probably just you. Not a tip for everyone, but yeah. Okay, let's get into some quick lessons. Let's get into the education part of the video. Education. Let's education. Let's educate the baddies real quick. Okay. We had three lessons, I think. Three big lessons. Stories to go along with it, of course. First one, communication is key when running a business. Look at me and my sister. We almost threw hands because there was no communication. For example. Yes, that's one example. Another example is communication with vendors, too. That's very important, and that's something that is like our number one role when having vendors. We want that strong relationship, strong communication with you guys. Yeah, communication is key. I think everybody can learn. That's all you have to say. Yeah, I think everybody, I mean, communication's for everything. Like Sabrina was saying, especially for our vendors. If we would leave you guys on ghost mode and you guys have to figure it out yourself, I mean We know you guys wouldn't like that. So we communicate everything to you guys. We have a whole system we have with you guys. Most of you know. We communicate everything from setup times from what is required. Even though some of you guys may not be listening to us, you know who you are. Not throwing any names. But communication is very important, including with the vendors. We expect you guys to communicate with us too. Yeah. If you can't make it to an event, just let us know. We hate when vendors communicate the same day of. Yes, that's something that makes it very hard for us. Like communication at least a couple days before or something like that. Quick text. Yeah, quick text or something. Like you don't even have to explain why. Yeah, just say I can't make it. We understand. Life happens. It's fine. But communication is key for everything. Like literally everything. And I think that a lot of problems back then could have been solved with communication. Yeah. A lot of uh vendors that disagree with something could just communicate that with us instead of making it a bigger deal than it has to be. Yeah. A lot of vendors have burned bridges with us, to be honest, because of communication. Yes. Like a lot. And that's why we try to be clear on everything from starting from our requirements, from starting from what's expected, our expectations, rules. We are clear with everything. So you guys have we're an open book, basically. Yeah, we are. So you guys know what you guys are joining. You guys know what's expected from you guys. Yeah. Sounds like a classroom here, but yeah. So lesson number one communication is key. If not, you're gonna be throwing hands at the end. No. No. Next. Personality. How do I word this, Amantha? Personality, I think, is everything. When running a business, yeah. I think that is what really shows your authentic. It really stands out out of everybody is personality. I mean, going telling a story about us when we first started, our logo was basic. OGs will know why. The OGs will know what our Instagram was way before it back then, two years ago, compared to now. It was nothing like what we are now. It was a th it wasn't authentic and it wasn't really our personalities at all. It had no like connection, nothing that we could relate to. It was like a prison. Like we made you guys feel like you were in a prison. You guys were our prisoners. But it was black and white. It had the classic 702 big font, basic font, too. I think it's because we were like taught like when you go into this business world, you have to have like these certain colors. You have to keep it this sort of font. So the colors were like red, yellow, white, like basically like the McDonald's colors, the in and out colors. It's like those colors. I mean, they're doing good in business because they have basic colors. Yeah. But if you think about it, a lot of other businesses are doing good in business because they're authentic to themselves and their personality really shows through the brand. Yeah. So like our colors have changed dramatically. We've become more girly, as you guys can tell, and we've become our vibe is more our logo vibe, I guess you can say, is more people say Y2K, but yeah, that's what we were not aiming for. I don't when we did the logo, we were like, not Y2K, let's stay away from that because that's not really us, but somehow we keep leaning towards it. Y2K for some reason. Our music is like two thousands. That's how we're calling, I guess. Our vibes are very two thousands. Which is fine. We like that. We like that music. Everything is curated by us. So like everything that you see at our markets, whether it's the science, whether it's the A-frames, everything is designed by us. Even our flyers, guys. Every uh flyer that we put out is created by me and Samantha. Our applications too. Yes. Literally everything is put into thought. We put a lot of detail and intention into everything. Yeah. So it basically went from black, white to our colors right now, pink and orange. We really put love into it, and I feel like you can really tell that. We hope you guys can tell that we really love this market and we put a lot of love and intention and detail into it. That you guys can tell, and I guess feel, I hope, and that's why you guys want to come to the market. That's why you guys want to bend at the market. Because you guys can feel the energy we put out. You can feel our per personality shining. Our love. We have a strong love for you guys. Yes. But our personality as well. Yes. And then last lesson. Tough pill to swallow, but not everyone will support you. And that's okay. We've learned it the hard way. We've lost a lot of friends and family, to be honest, because they didn't support our dreams. They didn't see the vision. Yeah. And it's fine. I mean, a lot of people, a lot of vendors, a lot of I mean, even from the beginning, we had a lot of vendors that didn't see the vision. They would come and go, food trucks that would apply. They would join us and say, Oh, I want to grow with you guys, but then they wouldn't. And then we have our OGs, vendors, and food trucks that till this day saw the vision. They're our rider dies. They like literally will follow us. You guys know who you guys are. Because you guys saw the vision and you guys stuck through it. And we appreciate that because we had a lot of people that said they would stay and they wouldn't and they just left. Basically, we heard a lot of talk. Yeah. But you guys didn't walk the walk. You didn't talk, you didn't talk and walk, or whatever that saying is. The even as business owners, the people who follow you, your customers. I know a lot of customers who go and they shop from a certain vendor and they've been shopping from that vendor. And they follow them from locations, different places, different markets, just to support that one vendor. I've seen that a lot too. Yeah. And I think that's something that a lot of people can't grasp onto and they're not okay with, and it offends them a lot, which I guess in the beginning it was getting under our skin a little bit that we didn't have the support that we wanted. But at the end of the day, all you need is yourself and your family and your loved ones around you. Agreed. And we have us, the four of us, and then we have also have other family too that support our dreams and have continue supporting our dreams for two years, and then we have basically the haters, honestly. Yeah. The haters who don't support us at all. The haters that actually motivate us to keep doing better. We love haters. Because it motivates us to continue to want more, to want to grow bigger. But also I've heard this quote somewhere that all you need is one customer. And it is true, all you need is one customer, one loyal um what's the word? One loyal supporter, and from there that's how your brand grows. I don't know if I'm making sense. Yeah. Okay. So if you guys think about it, we're your one supporter. We sub yes. We actually support you guys. Not actually, we do support you guys. Um, we support your business. That's our goal is giving you a platform. We're giving you guys a location. You guys all you have to do is come set up and pay the fee, of course. Set up and you guys sell your products, you guys have your little basically your tents are like your little storefronts. And we want to give you that opportunity to sell, to promote your business and to grow your brand. So even if you guys don't have if you guys have haters or people don't follow your dreams or believe you guys. Don't worry about them, guys. You got us. You got us. That's all you need. Morning market or night market. You gotta be think you gotta be quick. Quick, okay. Um, morning market, and I'll explain why. I just feel like it's like more aesthetically pleasing when it comes to videos, because I'm the videographer, my dad's the photographer. Not anymore. We'll be having someone, an actual like person that's videoing, but prior experience it just looks more pleasing. Like setups look more pleasing to the eye. If that makes sense. Okay. I go for night markets. For night markets? Why? Um, I feel like because everyone wants to come out at night. There's nothing to do. That is true. That is true. I feel like Vegas doesn't have anything to do other than drinking partying. And partying and clothes and gambling. And that's where we come in. Yeah. A quick um advertisement. Self-advertisement. Come to 702 markets. 702 Market. The most family friendly, girl friendly, age-friendly. Pet friendly. Pet friendly. No, no, advertis advertisement. They're for you guys. Quick, um, what is it? Ad. Ad break. Quick ad break. Okay, cute booth or a very packed booth. I would do both. No, you have to pick one, I think. I mean, I would go for packed booth probably. Why? Because if your booth is packed, it makes more people want to come. That means you're doing something right in your booth. Are you talking about this right thing? What? Packed booth. Like, like I'm thinking it like the stuff is like very much. Oh, like it's too much in there. Oh key booth. Yeah. Yeah. I thought like packed with like a lot of people there. Oh my god. This is what you guys are gonna hear. Like a lot of like bickering and to the point that we're gonna have slow moments, guys. We have a lot of slow moments. We have a lot of pressure on us. We have a lot on our shoulders. There's times that like I go blank and it might get quiet for me. There is times at the event we go blank when a vendor's asking us a question. We just stare at you because we have so much on our heads. So many ideas. On our minds, sorry. Okay, next question. Cute booth, though. Cute booth. I feel like. Yeah, cute booth. I mean, packed booth can work for certain vendors like a vintage. Yeah. I've seen a lot of vintage vendors. They bring in like crap ton of clothing. I mean, like buckets. We've literally seen people on their hands and knees looking through these. So props to you, vintage centers. So you guys are finding like some hidden gems somewhere. Yeah, obviously. I don't know where you go, but yeah. But I think cute booth all the way. That's what we try to promote a lot in our market is hey, be cute. Set up, we tell them, we tell our vendors this is our demographic, this is what we bring. If you guys can be more like aesthetically pleasing, you will call people. Yeah. Because that's what we've seen. Yeah. We're trying to help you guys. But I would say cute booth too. Yeah, cute booth.

Including when they have like a little rug in the middle of their setup. It's so like not even that. Twinkling lights, or I know a certain vendor that does matches our um themes, so they'll print banners. That is we catch on to those kind of things, but we love it. Everything you guys make vlogs, we'll repost them. Um we also pay attention to the day of setup when you guys follow our themes. We love it. Not even that, we pay attention to the TikTok ones that will do um what are those things called? Halls. Yes, hauls. Oh, those are so cool. Because we're like, oh, we pay attention, guys. If you tag us, we will find whatever you post, we will like it. We show each other. We have actually excited like behind the scenes, we have an actual group chat called 702 Family. Yes. And it's the four of us that we send business messages, even though we live in the same house, we send each other messages. We will be on the couch all together and we will send messages to each other. And we're like, oh, set up meeting or random, random stuff. But besides the point, cash only versus card only. Hmm. I think card only. I think a lot of businesses a lot of people don't carry cash. I'm and I've had instances where guests will be like, oh, do they have cash or card? And I'm like, some might take cash. So she had to go to an ATM to get cash. Because we don't know. We don't know if you guys take cash or card. Some people take Zell. Yeah. A lot of people take Zell. So honestly, I think card. Yeah, I agree. I agree. Okay, next question. Hmm. Planning ahead or winging it. We're planners. But we can't wing anything. We've tried winging. We tried and it's gone down. Yeah. I think sometimes I mean it's good to be like optimistic and be adventurous. Spontaneous. Yeah, spontaneous. It's good to be spontaneous, like we'll see how it goes. Let's do how many times have we said, oh, we're gonna do a TikTok trend? And we that's planning and we don't even listen to ourselves. We actually have lists that is that we go by checklists. And 90% of that list gets done the day of the event because we're busy doing a lot of other stuff. But we literally plan ahead though. We have like a meeting, just say we had a meeting today for like two months, three months ahead of time. Like that's how far meetings like every day at this point. That's how far we plan ahead. We literally have a whiteboard. Yes, we have notebooks, each of us has a notebook, each of us has a laptop, each of us has an iPad, each of us has calendars. Like that's how planning ahead for us is. Like, everything's everywhere. We have like calendars and papers everywhere because we take notes and because I'm forgetful. I have to take notes of everything. So my notebook is crazy looking right now. So Mapha's more like organized. She's more like aesthetically pleasing. I try. Yeah, like in that way. But me it gets a lot of different things. They'll be like, wow, that's really aesthetically pleasing. Oh my god. But planning ahead for us, we cannot wing anything. And if we do wing it, I think we could get for the best. You guys would tell if we winged it. Yeah. If we just set up a marking and we're like, okay, we'll see. We're gonna try. This year we're gonna do an event and we're gonna wing it. Don't get their hopes up. And just see how it goes. Aim for the best, guys. We'll just see. No, no flyer, no post. We'll just show up one day. Say claim your spot. We'll see. And let's see how far. We'll crash and burn, but yeah, planning ahead all the way. We have to, including in our job, you have to plan ahead, including with application city, like two two months ahead. Yeah, I literally have to plan ahead. And that's where Samantha stresses me out with this damn calendar. I stress out. I do stress out. It's like her eyes twitching, guys. You guys need to calm down on her damn eyes twitching. I've lost hair because I'm stressed out. My mom can't sleep at night, guys. We are stressed out to the max because of all these ideas we have. Yes. When Samantha has an idea or when I have an idea, we have meetings. Yes. We have to. We talk about it. We decide if we want to, including with this new year. I feel like we have like an overflowing of ideas. Like out of nowhere, we've been so like in the box. Like we're so scared to try things and we're so very um closed-minded. Yeah, we're closed-minded and we overthink to the max. Yes. But this year, it just like something that is like it's a new year, like trying to get overnight. We're like new marketing. We do like a lot of big things that we can't tell you guys. We really wish we could, but you guys will be hearing it soon. Really big things, big things for us that we are excited for. Little hint, we had a city meeting. That's a little hint. Okay, I see little hints. Okay. Okay. But yes, what were we talking about? I don't know. Planning ahead versus planning ahead. Both agreed. Both agree. Pink branding or neutral? Um like do you think like the plain colors, like the white, black, or like colors? I think to anyone colors pops out more when you're walking a like a customer, you're gonna go to colors, but then also there's some customers that like that clean clean look. So it's kind of hard to I don't know. Everyone has their own. I really don't think that colors matter at the end, though. I think it's how you brand it. Yes, that is true. If you have you can choose whatever we've seen different colors, we've seen purple. Guys, little blue. We went pink and orange, and we thought we were gonna lose guys. Yeah, we thought it was gonna be a girl market. I see a lot of couples, we see guys showing up too. And no judgment. I mean, we don't they like to shop too. Yes, you just can't get a tote bag, but you can go shop. We have a lot of vintage vendors, we have a lot of guy vendors that we thought we were gonna lose.
